Micheal Pollan's New York Times Article "The Way We Live Now"

In this New York Times article "The Way We Live Now" by Michael Pollan it is clear to see by the image what it is about. The image is of a farmer slaughtering a full grown pig, this image is very violent and portrays the author's tone. Through out the article the author explains the need for Food Sustainability, but he first defines what "Sustainability". His definition of the term Sustainability was so vivid and clear that I chose to use it in my essay, despite my topic being on Environmental Sustainability. I believe that the combination of Pollan's definition and other professionals will help give my audience a better understanding of Sustainability. The image used in the article is a good example of a rhetorical gaze, which I will copy in my essay.

Dr. John Morellie "Definition for Environmental Professionals."

Dr. John Morellie was chosen for a source in my Essay 2 Definition paper for many reasons. The most important reason is that Dr. Morelli, a member of the faculty of Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Management, is a full-time lecturer and researcher at RIT. His principal areas of interest include voluntary, private sector, strategic environmental management, and environmental management system design. For nine years, he served as academic chair for the Department of Environmental Management and has been the lead developer for RIT's BS degree program in Environmental Management and Technology, and its MS program in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management. In other words Dr. Morelli is clearly qualified to be used as a source in defining Environmental Sustainability. The second reason I chose to use Dr. Morellie is for his article called "Definition for Environmental Professionals". In this article Dr. Morellie defines what Sustainability is in his own words, and he defines the various types of Sustainability. For example Environmental Sustainability, Economic Sustainability, and social Sustainability. All these factors combined makes Dr. John Morellie a perfect source for my Definition Essay.

Jeniffer Bodine (Interview)

The Interviewing process can be seen as a hard process, however with the right questions and a qualified source to interview it can be very simple. Jennifer Bodine is a perfect candidate for my interview on Environmental Sustainability because she is a professional in the field. She has a dual Bachelors Degree in Environmental Sciences and Economic Sustainability, in addition to her degrees she has also worked for Weber State University in the Sustainability Office for over 10 years. She took part in writing the “Sustainable Chapter for Wyoming”, and has lead various projects in pursuit to make Weber State University a Zero Emissions School by 2025. Now that I have identified that she is a credible source the next step is to ask the pre written questions to her. Then lastly apply these Q&A's to your writing.
